Cupping suits a salon menu for three reasons: it gives a distinct, noticeable effect the very first time, it requires a small investment in equipment, and it creates natural add-on sales of cups for home use. The key is packaging it right: as an add-on to existing treatments first, as standalone treatments once staff are confident. Here are five treatment ideas with time and content, what staff need to know, hygiene, add-on sales and marketing.
Five treatments to start from
| Treatment | Time | Content | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glow add-on | +15 min | Face cupping with Face Cup and Face Cup Mini after cleansing, before the mask. Lymphatic drainage, jaw, cheeks, forehead. | Skin therapists, as an add-on to facials |
| Face Cupping Signature | 45 min | Cleansing, lymphatic drainage, whole face and neck with the cup, mask, finish. Focus on glow, puffiness, jaw. | Standalone treatment, returning clients |
| Back & shoulders with cupping | 30 min | Dynamic cupping of the back, static cups on trapezius/shoulder blades, manual neck. | Massage salons, lunchtime treatment |
| Recovery full body | 60–75 min | Dynamic and static cupping of legs and back, lymphatic strokes, breathing with cups below the collarbones. | Spas, sporty clients, signature treatment |
| Light legs | 30 min | Lymphatic massage with the dynamic cup on the legs, legs raised, static cups in the arches. | Spas, summer, postnatal, standing professions |
Price add-ons in line with other 15-minute add-ons, and standalone treatments like the equivalent massage or facial with a premium for specialisation. The client's experience of cupping is distinct enough to carry it.
What staff need to know
Technique for static and dynamic cupping, contraindications, how suction is adapted to skin type and tissue, and how to talk about marks and expectations. It takes an afternoon to learn the basics and a few weeks of practice to become confident. Training paths: Face Cupping Professional (55 min video) for skin therapists, Body Cupping Professional (3.5 h) for massage therapists (both in Swedish), or a workshop on site for the whole team. Overview: Become a cupping therapist. Technique details: Cupping for massage therapists.
Equipment and hygiene
Per treatment room: two Face Cups, two sets of Face Cup Mini, two Dynamic Cups, two Dynamic Mini Cups, six to eight Static Cups, body and face oil. All in silicone that tolerates soap, warm water, surface disinfectant and boiling. Clean between every client, air dry, store dry. Two sets per room allow rotation. Contact us for partner prices.
Add-on sales: cups for home use
The result of cupping is built by regularity, and the client can do a lot themselves between visits. That makes home products a natural recommendation, not an afterthought: Face Kit after the facial, Static Cups for the client with tight shoulders, Body Kit Small for the sporty client. Show a cup in the hand during the treatment, give a simple home routine ("three times a week, five minutes, like this") and refer to our guides for instructions. Clients who cup at home also come back more often, because they feel the effect.
Marketing
- Before/after on the face works well on social media, with the client's consent: glow and reduced puffiness are visible immediately.
- Explain the method briefly on your website: "Cupping lifts the skin with a light vacuum instead of pressing, which increases circulation and lymphatic flow." Link to What is cupping? The complete guide.
- Season: light legs in summer, recovery in running and ski season, glow before the holidays.
- Visibility via Curam: partner salons can be listed on our page for spas and salons. Contact us.
How to get started in four weeks
- Week 1: training (online or workshop), order equipment.
- Week 2: practise on colleagues, decide on two treatments to start with (one add-on and one standalone).
- Week 3: launch the add-on to existing clients, collect feedback and pictures.
- Week 4: add the treatments to the booking system and website, stock home products.
Frequently asked questions
Which treatment should we start with?
A 15-minute add-on to what you already do: face cupping in the facial or static cups in the massage. It requires the least training and gives the fastest feedback.
Do we need special insurance or permits?
Cupping with silicone cups is a non-invasive treatment that fits within ordinary salon and massage practice. Check with your insurer that treatment liability covers new methods, as with any addition.
Does the treatment leave marks that clients complain about?
Face cupping and dynamic cupping normally give only redness. Static cupping leaves marks, which you inform about beforehand and adapt to the client's wishes.
Can you train our staff on site?
Yes, we hold workshops for salons, spas and teams. Contact us with the number of participants and focus (face, body or both).
