Numbness and tingling in the feet and legs: where it is felt and what it means (nerve in the back, nerve in the leg, polyneuropathy, circulation, B12), burning feet, when to seek care, and what helps: exercises, shoes, blood sugar and cupping

The foot falls asleep when you sit with your legs crossed and wakes with pins and needles when you stand up: that is harmless and everyone knows it. But tingling in the feet that comes for no reason, numbness that lingers, a burning feeling under the feet at night, or a feeling of walking on cotton wool or with a sock that isn't there, are signals from the nerves that should be taken seriously and can usually be explained. Where it is felt says a lot: both feet symmetrically and upwards like a sock suggests polyneuropathy (diabetes, B12 deficiency, alcohol, thyroid), a strip down one leg a compressed nerve root in the back (sciatica), only under the forefoot a nerve in the foot (Morton's neuroma, tarsal tunnel), the outside of the thigh a skin nerve in the groin, and cold, pale feet with pain when you walk the circulation. Here is the location map, the causes, the warning signs that need care the same day, the tests to ask for, and what helps: exercises for nerve and back, the right shoes, blood sugar, B12 and alcohol, foot care, and cupping of calves and thighs that improves circulation and releases muscles that compress nerves, but never over skin you can't feel.

Nerve pain and trapped nerves: how it feels, where nerves get compressed (neck, back, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, foot), when it's urgent, what helps and how cupping is used around a trapped nerve

Nerve pain feels different from muscle and joint pain: burning, electric, stabbing, radiating along a path, with numbness, pins and needles or weakness, often worse at night and independent of how you load. The most common cause is a nerve being compressed or irritated at one of the body's narrow passages: the nerve roots of the neck, the lower back (sciatica), the elbow (ulnar), the wrist (carpal tunnel), the hip and buttock (piriformis, meralgia paraesthetica), the outside of the knee (peroneal) and the foot (tarsal tunnel, Morton's neuroma). Here is how to recognise nerve pain, a map of where nerves get compressed and what it is called, the warning signs, what helps (giving the nerve room, nerve gliding, movement, posture, sometimes medication), what doesn't help, and how cupping is used on the muscles around the nerve, never on the nerve itself or a numb area.

Carpal tunnel syndrome and numb hands: causes, self-care that helps and what cupping can do

Numbness and tingling in the thumb, index and middle finger, worst at night, is usually carpal tunnel syndrome: the median nerve is compressed at the wrist. Here are the causes, the self-care that works (night splint first), when to see a doctor, and where cupping can and cannot be used.
